Our beloved Lupe (Canas) Torrez Marquez, age 63, resident of Round Rock TX. was called by our Heavenly Father on Friday February 9, 2001.Mr. Marquez was born July 28, 1937 in Round Rock, Texas to the union of Demetria Amaro and Alfonzo Torrez. Attended Round Rock High School, served in the United States Army for 6 years, two were served in Germany. Was in the Army Reserve during the Cuban crisis. Was assistant Scout Master of St. Williams Catholic Church, Boys Scout Troop during the 1970?s under the direction of Robert Stluka (present Mayor of Round Rock). Employed with the Texas Workforce Commission before retiring September 1999. Preceded in death by his Son John ?Big John? Marquez and his daughter Christina Marquez, parents, sister Teresa Torrez, Brothers Santiago, Robert, Asencio Torrez, Maximino and Paula Marquez who raised him since the age of 4 years and his brother-in-law Alex Limon. Survivors include: Loving and devoted Wife of 39 years; Carrie Limon Marquez, Son; Guadalupe Marquez, Jr. and companion Mina Hernandez of Round Rock, TX., Grandsons; John Thomas and Christopher Marquez, Special Granddaughters; Alexandria ?Nanie? Martinez and Tomi Maldonado, Brother; Stanley Torrez and wife Mary, Sister; Sebastiana Garcia and husband Jacinto, Parents-in-law; Julian and Magdalena Limon, all of Austin. Those desiring can make donations to Cristo Rey Catholic Church, Escuelita Fund Drive in memory of Lupe. Recitation of rosary Wednesday 7:30pm at the Mission Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday 1:00pm at Cristo Rey Catholic Church. Under the Special Care of Franciscan Friars to officiate. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Manny Estrada, Joe Ojeda, Jr., Ray Cook, Teofilo Carrillo, Joe Hernandez, Kenneth Eschbach, Vincent Perez, Jr. and Gonzalo Perez. Honorary pallbearers will be Albert Cortez, Bennie Escobar, Domingo Rodriguez, Jr., Hector Rivera, David Lopez, Jr., Tom Limon and Pete Limon. Arrangements by Mission Funeral Home, 1615 E.
