Our Beloved Shirley Rodriguez, age 73, of Austin, Texas, was called by our Heavenly Father on Sunday, April 2, 2017. She was born on November 8, 1943 as Frances Shirley Muñiz in Trinidad, Colorado to her loving parents, Joe Orris and Leida Maria Muñiz. Shirley was a member of the Parker Lane United Methodist Church. She ran the church Thrift Store which she enjoyed tremendously because it gave her the opportunity to meet new people. She retired from Travis County Gardner Betts after over 15 years of dedicated service. She loved Mariachi Music and dancing but most of all she loved spending time and having fun with all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed going to the Casino’s. Everyone that has ever been around her knows that she liked to have fun and be silly, dance and sing. She had a smile that would light up a room, with a heart of Gold. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Leida Muñiz; brother, Lee Muñiz; sisters, Dorothy Muñiz and Deborah Colon; Son-in-Law, Mario Costilla; Granddaughter, Nicole Costilla; and Great-Grandson, Baby Brandon. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Valentino Davila) Costilla, Teresa (Dale) Johnson, and Maryann (Thomas Garcia) Baca; siblings, Veronica Muñiz, Isabel Treviño, Daniel Muñiz, Catherine Muñiz, Ted Muñiz, and Tony Muñiz; Grandchildren: Tisha, Jessica, Frankie, Jacob, Ruby, Michelle, Christopher, Matthew, Erica, and Alex; 24 Great-Grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Frankie Hernandez, Jacob Esparza, Christopher Costilla, Matthew Esparza, Alex Hernandez and Jose Colon. Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Muñiz and Marcos Hernandez. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel, 6204 S. First St., Austin, Texas. Final viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. with a Funeral Service to begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Parker Lane United Methodist Church, 2105 Parker Lane, Austin, Texas.
