Obituary of Arturo R. Sosa

Please share a memory of Arturo to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Arturo was born on Friday, February 15, 1946, in Austin, Texas. He grew up on the South Side of Austin on West Live Oak Street. He went to Becker Elementary School, Fulmore Jr. High, and later graduated high school from Johnston High School. He volunteered to join the Army to serve his country. He fought in Vietnam where he earned the following military decorations: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Aircraft Crewman Badge, and Sharpshooter (rifle).

Upon Arthur’s return from Vietnam he worked for IBM, as a microchip specialist, and later worked for Capital Metro for 15 years. Arthur enjoyed visiting friends and family in his spare time and always findings ways to be supportive and giving. Arthur spent a great deal of time with his older brother Antonio Sosa and his eldest son Arthur Lee Sosa.

Arthur went by three primary names, Art, Arthur, Arturo, and, most enduring and commonly used by close friends and family, Coco. When he was born, his hair stood up, thus resembling a coconut and the name endured the test of time. Arthur was well known for his witty jokes in Spanish and English, in which he was able to dominate the two cultural understandings of humor, in both languages. Arturo enjoyed life and really enjoyed watching his children and grandchild grow up and be successful. Arthur only married once and when asked why he did not marry again, he often said he only fell in love with one person, and that he would only focus on his children growing up and being successful. Arthur loved life and lived life to the fullest! “Dale gusto a gusto”

Arthur is survived by his son Arthur Lee Sosa, daughter-in-law Maricela Beltran Sosa, and grandchildren Almarina (14 y) and Savina (9y); son Isaac Sosa, and daughter Lydia Ann Sosa. He was preceeded in death by father, Nicolas Sosa, mother, Gregoria Rodriguez Sosa, Surviving are brothers and sisters-in-law: Eulogio and wife Rosa Elia Sosa, Antonio and wife Carol Sosa, Lydia and husband Frank Froeschele, Reynaldo Sosa, Margarito and wife Linda Sosa, Robert Flores, Elida Snow, Annie Flores Fuentes.
