Obituary of Virginia Houk

Our beloved Sissy Houk, age 57, was called to home to our Heavenly Father, on Wednesday, July 5, 2017.  She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, after a long battle with cancer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Silas and Rachel Houk; her siblings, Wesley Howard Houk, Jimmy Dale Houk, James Glenn Houk, William "Bill" Daniel Houk, Charles "Chuck" Ray Houk, Melvin Curtis Houk, Luella "Ludy" Laverne Houk, Sarah Sue Houk, and Carolyn Joan Houk Reynolds.

Sissy is survived by the love of her life, Clifford "Cliff" Tibbs; her loving sons, Christopher Michael Arellano and Richard Phillip Arellano; her other children, Cody Tibbs, Tonya Tibbs, Keith Tibbs, Amber Tibbs, and Ashley Tibbs; her brothers, Silas Dewayne "Wayne" Houke, Sr. and his wife, Wendy, and Bill Houk; six treasured grandchildren, Raiden Phillip Arellano, Ronin Michael Arellano, Victoria Alene Robins, Skyler Tibbs, Seth Tibbs, and Bryden Hayes. 

Sissy was born in Bridgeport, Texas, July 23, 1959, and has resided in Austin since 1989.  Her family; her children,were the absolute love of her life.  She met her soul mate, Clifford Eugene Tibbs, in 2004.  He brought her more children and grandchildren to her family.  "The first time I remembered Ashley calling me step-mom, my heart melted, and I knew they were all family."  

A special thank you is offered to the staff of Mereia Hospice, for their dedication and care, and especially to Brittany.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., Monday, July 10, 2017, with a Scripture Service beginning at 1:00 p.m., Mission Funeral Home - South Side, 6204 S. First St., Austin, Texas.  Interment will follow at Onion Creek Memorial Park Cemetery.
