Obituary of Manuel Charles Gonzalez, Jr.

Our Beloved Manuel C. Gonzalez, Jr., age 54, was called to our Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 30, 2017.  He recieved the Honors of the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus, San Jose Catholic Church Council 10148, and served as Deputy Grand Knight and Council Director. He was a dedicated member of this church, and a committed husband and father. Manuel was known as "Chief" to his childhood friends, and J.R. to his family.

Manuel was a gifted musician, mastering in all string instruments, with primary discipline on the Guitarrón and bass guitar. He was a natural born performer, and spent 27 years in his family's mariachi group, Mariachi Guadalupano. He continued performing with many conjunto groups, and choirs.

He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Veronica Ojeda Gonzalez; his children, Manuel Antonio Gonzalez and Gabriela Veronica Gonzalez; his father and mother, Manuel C. Gonzalez and Ofelia Trevino Gonzalez; his brothers and sisters, Rosemary Omar and her husband, Baslan, Ofelia Williamson and her husband, John, John Gonzalez and his wife, Chrisel, Veronica Martinez and her husband, Craig, and Michael Gonzalez and his wife, Delisa; numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.

Honored Pallbearers will be Craig Martinez, John Williamson, Armando Ojeda, Tom Ojeda, Edgar Ojeda, Pete DeLuna, Rafael Briceño, and Carlos Briceño.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m., Thursday, August 3, 2017, Mission Funeral Home – South Side, 6204 S. First St., and from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., San Jose Catholic Church, 2435 Oak Crest Ave.  Recitation of Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 3, 2017 at San Jose Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 4, 2017, San Jose Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, IH 35 S, Austin, Texas.
