Our beloved Louis Martinez Mendez Jr., resident of Austin, born on November 11, 1938, passed away on October 25, 2017 at the age of 78.

Louis proudly served his country as a Private First Class in the United States Army, stationed in West Germany. Upon completion of his active duty, he continued to serve as a member of the U.S. Reserves while being employed over 35 years with the Safeway Grocery Company.

After his retirement from Safeway, Uncle Louie's favorite pastime was being the #1 fan at his numerous nephews and nieces and their children's sports and other school events.

Louis is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Sr. and Aurora Mendez, and his sister Consuelo Gonzalez. He is survived by two sisters, Beatrice Limon, and Bertha Limon (Gilbert), and three brothers, Rodolfo Mendez, Robert Mendez (Margarita), and Tom Mendez (Amelia). He also leaves behind numerous nephews and nieces and their families that will miss their Uncle Louie.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., Friday, November 10,2017 with Recitation of the Holy Rosary held at 7:00 p.m., Mission Funeral Home – East Side, 1615 E. Cesar Chavez Street, Austin, Texas.

 Inurnment will be private.
