Obituary of Julio Contreras, Sr.

Our beloved Julio Contreras, Sr., age 97, was called to our Heavenly Father on Thursday, December 28, 2017.  He proudly served our country as a member of the United States Army Air Corps.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Herminia Varela Contreras; his parents, Dionicio Contreras and Paula Banda Contreras; and his siblings, Vincent Contreras, Cleto Contreras, Rosa Longoria, Lupe Contreras, Dionicio Contreras, Jr., Jesse Contreras, Georgia Contreras, and his son-in-law, Francisco Vallejo.

Julio is survived by his lovnig children, Delia Vallejo, Maria Teresa Contreras, and Julio (Lily) Contreras, Jr.; eight grandchildren, Eddie (Mary Ann) Vallejo, Bertha (John) Duran, James (Brook) Vallejo, Jeffrey (Eydie) Vallejo, Rebecca (Joel) Ortiz, Suzanne (Michael) Walsh, Janice Contreras, and Janette (Benny Rivera) Contreras; his siblings, Johnny Contreras, Valentine Contreras, Gloria Moreno, and Jose Banda; 21 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.

The Contreras Family calls to positions of Honored Pallbearers James Vallejo, Michael Walsh, Jeffrey Vallejo, Felix Contreras, Janice Contreras, John Duran, Anthony Ortiz, and Jacob Duran; Honorary Pallbearers will be Eddie VallejoSuzanne Walsh, Jessica Duran, Janette Contreras, Alyssa Ortiz, Joel Ortiz, John Duran, and Brandon Pardo, Jr. 

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2018 with a Funeral Service beginning at 1:00 p.m., Mission Funeral Home - East Side, 1615 E. Cesar Chavez St., Austin, Texas.  Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
