Obituary of Enrique Eloy Santos, Jr.

Our beloved Eloy Santos, Age 54, passed away peacefully in Austin, Texas, surrounded by his loving family on November 22, 2017 after a long battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Enrique Eloy Santos, Sr., his grandparents, Remigio and Manuela Santos of Zapata, Texas and Melvin and Ethel Kisser of Cambridge, Maryland.  His close cousin, Brenda Segal, passed away also of cancer a week following Eloy.

Eloy is survived by his husband, Abram Gonzalez; his mother, June Geraldine Kisser of San Angelo, Texas, his siblings, Donna and her husband, Pete, Wagner, of Cambridge Maryland, Sharon and her husband, Dr. Leo Flores of San Angelo, Texas, Christina Santos and her partner, Rob Phelps, of San Antonio, Texas, Danny and his wife, Sylvia, Santos of Zapata, Texas, Sheryl Santos of San Angelo, Texas, Monica and her husband, Jose, Jaramillo of Loredo, Texas, and Brenda and her husband, Luis Garcia of Laredo, Texas; nieces and nephews, Terron, Thoren, Kaily, Bailey, Daniela, Yvette, Jennifer, Garret, Gage, Dylon, Zane, Alexis, and Mia; his beloved dog, Shiba Santos; and numerous other loving family members. 

He was born in Laredo, Texas; graduating from Nixon High School in 1982. After graduating high school, he moved to Austin, Texas and started his formal studies, graduating from Austin Community College in 1997 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Surgical Technologies.  He worked at Brackenridge Hospital with the Trauma Unit and then went to work with Specialty Staffing where he was able to work for the ER department of many local hospitals.  He was well regarded in his area of expertise and held a high level of respect amongst all the local hospital ER departments.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and just enjoying life to the very fullest.  Eloy enjoyed a lifetime bond with his friends, Willie Schunior, Bonnie Schunior, Ester Moreno, Teresa Ortiz, Charlotte Smith, Joe Vela (dec’d) and Richard Kennedy (dec’d).

A Memorial Service will be held in Eloy's honor on Saturday, January 6, 2018, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at St. James' Episcopal Church, 1941 Webberville Rd., Austin, Texas.
