Sylvia Z. Marciel Obituary (1943

Our beloved Sylvia Z. Marciel, age 80, was called to our Heavenly Father on Thursday, June 13, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, Matilde Marciel, Jr.; her parents, Jose Zavala (Maria Zavala) and Concepcion Rincon; her brothers, Reynaldo Zavala and Joey Zavala. Sylvia was known for her selfless service to others, and doing for family and others alike. Kind and generous she welcomed by offering food; a supportive listening ear and a loving energy. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother to all, and took an active role in the lives of her large and growing family. She put in over 40 years of service at JC Penney making many friends and retiring two times. The second retirement after an attempt at working at Wal-Mart sent her back to JC Penney quickly. Sylvia was an active/dedicated member of Cristo Rey Catholic Church and she enjoyed singing in the choir with her friends. We were all blessed to have such a beautiful woman in our lives and she will be forever missed, loved, and cherished. Although it hurts like nothing we’ve ever felt, we know, she deserves those wings and to rest now and be at peace. She’s with our heavenly father dancing in the skies, waiting and not suffering in pain. We now have a new guardian angel. Sylvia leaves by her daughters, Patricia Pulido, Betty Ugalde and her husband, Luis, Diana Marciel, and Jo Ann Marciel; 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with Recitation of Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Mission Funeral Home - East Side, 1615 E. Cesar Chavez St., Austin, Texas. Mass of Catholic Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, Robert T. Martinez & 2nd St., Austin, Texas. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S. IH 35 Frontage Rd., Austin, Texas.
