Obituary of Ann Moreno Ledesma

Please share a memory of Ann to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our beloved Ann "Maw" Ledesma, age 98, lifelong resident of East Austin, Texas, was called to our Heavenly Father on Sunday, November 26, 2017.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Manuel Ledesma, Sr.; her infant son; grandson, Kevin Ledesma;her parents, Aurelio "Frank" Moreno and Maria Bargas; and her siblings, Lucille Herrera, Francis Rincon, Julia Pineda, Earl Moreno, Frank Moreno, Robert Moreno, and Willie Moreno.

Mrs. Ledesma is survived by her loving children, Mary Ann (John) Ramos, Rose (David) Villasana, Manuel (Rene) Ledesma, Jr., James (Alice) Ledesma, and Joe E. (Janett) Ledesma; her sister, Rose Tannlund; her former daughter-in-law, Pat Champion; 18 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, 20 great-great grandchildren, and 2 great-great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.

Ann was a woman of strong faith and a longtime member of Cristo Rey Catholic Church.   She always guided her family in the right direction, both from a loving mother’s and a spiritual perspective.  Her love could be found in everything she did from taking care of her family to tending her flower garden.  When the need arose to work, she quickly found a job downtown at Lerner’s Department Store.  At Lerner’s she made many new friends, while working diligently and tirelessly for decades until retiring.   She enjoyed cooking and baking for the entire family.  She and Manuel loved to have large family gatherings at their home and they did so often.

Christmas time was not only a celebration of the Birth of Christ but also it was their wedding anniversary.  She and Manuel were married Christmas Eve 1936.  Every Christmas their house was full of family and friends. Sometimes there were as many as 150 people there and she loved it!  She would cook and bake for days in preparation.  She always would have gifts for everyone who attended, whether they were expected or not.

Everyone in the family knew a few things about Ann: She loved them; where she lived: 2614 E 2nd St. (She always said “I still live at…”); and her phone number, which we all still know to this day.  Everyone who met her knew she was an extraordinary woman.  She touched so many lives, will be greatly missed and forever loved.

Pallbearers will be John (Johnny Boy) Ramos, Jr., David (Dottie) Villasana, Jr., Lanny Ledesma, Jason Ledesma, Joe Ledesma, Jr., and Larry Ledesma.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Joseph Ramos, Michael Ramos, Robert Ramos, Donnie Villasana, and Adam Ledesma.
