Brandy Colon

Obituary of Brandy Lee Colon

Please share a memory of Brandy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Brandy Lee Colon entered this world on August 25, 1978. She was the first born child of Michael and Pamela.  She left this earth and entered Heaven October 12, 2018 at the young age of 40.  On this day our hearts were forever broken and a piece of them left with her.

Brandy was very unique young lady.  She was one of a kind.  Brandy truly lived life her way.  She did not conform to any specific mold. If someone ever thought she did, Brandy would quickly show them that they were wrong.  Brandy had a heart of gold and a headstrong attitude to match it.  She gave her love wholeheartedly and unconditionally. Brandy truly never met a stranger. She was eager to help anyone with anything they needed, no matter the personal cost.  This did not always make for the best decisions.  Brandy was like a whirlwind.  She had to try everything at least once. Even if it turned out to be a mistake, she would often repeat that mistake many times over.  Brandy lived life as though she was unstoppable, untouchable, unshakeable and most of the time she was.  She had a tenacious spirit inside of her petite body.  Brandy was a force to be reckoned with: a firestorm, a true warrior woman.

Brandy had many hopes and dreams.  She tried hard to see all of the good things in life. She rarely seemed satisfied and she constantly longed for more.  She had many plans she wanted to accomplish. Brandy took great pride in the things she accomplished.   Accomplishment, even by trial and error, meant one more thing marked off her list of many.  Brandy always longed to be needed.  Her desire to fulfill a specific purpose and mission in life was strong.  When things didn't end as planned Brandy would still press on. She would hold her head high and make the best out of each situation.  Brandy never wanted to show anyone her vulnerability or disappointment.

Brandy loved writing, she kept journals her whole life.  If there wasn't one handy she would write on whatever  paper was lying near her.  She wrote everything down:  her thoughts, her dreams, her aspirations, her sorrows…every emotion…  There was nothing off limits within her written thoughts, she put them all on paper.  Brandy wanted people to know her thoughts and dreams.  Most people keep them private but not Bran, she would leave it lying open on the kitchen table.  This was her way of seeking advice or help with a situation.

Brandy often found her peace in nature and adventure.  She enjoyed being outdoors.  She loved animals of all kinds.  She loved to travel, no matter the destination.  She loved going to gatherings.  She could be the life of the party and had a contagious laugh.  It didn't take much to get her started giggling.  Once Brandy started laughing, it was never ending.  And soon she would have the whole room laughing with her.

Brandy loved babies and children and longed for a family of her own. She had a great fondness for her nieces and nephews.  To Brandy these relationships were the closest she would get to having her own children.  She spoiled them.  Brandy was selfless and would go without to buy what her nieces and nephews wanted or needed.  She went to their school events including athletic games and ceremonies.  She loved all of her family and she loved her large group of friends.  She grew up with many of her current day friends.  There are several who have remained close since early childhood, if not birth.  Brandy considered most of her friends as part of her family.  Her bond with these special few was strong.   Brandy was the best friend anyone could have wanted.  But be prepared for the journey because if you were going alongside Brandy, it could likely get wild and crazy.  Brandy made calls quite often just to talk:  ask for advice, give advice and just keep in touch.  There were no time restraints for Brandy.  The call from her could come in the middle of the night…just to talk.  If the time was questioned,  her reply to the time would be, “Really, is it that late already.  I'm sorry I didn't realize what time it was".  We will dearly miss all of those calls, text messages, voice mail messages and snapchats.  I would gladly be woken up just to hear her voice one more time.

Brandy never liked being alone or in darkness while at home.  When she was home alone, no matter her age, every light in the house was on.  The lights stayed on until someone else came home.  There is no doubt that every light in heaven was on for her arrival.  The sun is now constantly shining on Brandy's sweet, beautiful face.  And she will never have to be alone.  When Brandy arrived in Heaven she was greeted by her beloved father Michael Colon, her three daughters that were each born preterm,  brother Michael Colon, grandparents Ronald and Lillian Colon, sister in law Diana Colon, uncles Ronald Colon, Richard Little and Mike Willis, great grandmother Lucille Murrah and many more family members and close friends. There is no doubt that her special friend Mandy Hollingsworth was there waiting, arms wide open with a huge smile.

Brandy is survived by her longtime partner and friend Jamey Boggan (Bubba) and his son Jerrod.  Her mother Pamela Henderson.  Sister Misty Colon, nieces Mikela and Zelia, nephew Mikael.  Brother Lee Colon & Bianca, nephew Bryce.
