Obituary of Donna Carroll Dimon

Donna Carroll Dimon passed away on October 16, 2018 in Austin, Texas at the age of 72.  She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee and grew up in Dallas, Texas before moving to Austin as an adult.

Donna graduated from W.W. Samuel High School in Dallas and Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas.  She also attended the University of Texas at Austin graduate school and spent her career at the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.  She initiated and directed a number of volunteer service programs with the Department and was one of two founding employees in the statewide hot line.

She was known by her fellow workers and many friends for her very loving nature and her abilitiy to be extremely direct in the most diplomatic and loving way imaginable.  For a while in her 30's, Donna had close friends living nearby to where they had weekly potlucks shared with everybody welcome and everybody sharing.  When the children were young, she liked to camp or stay at the big house on the beach at Port Aransas with the potluck group and other friends.  The potlucks continued less often as the neighborhood children got older and families scattered. So Donna started scrapbooking and making numerous visits and taking photos of family and friends.  She was also able to travel to Europe, Mexico, Argentina and San Diego to visit friends and family living there.

Donna is survived by her husband Robert "Bob" Frederick; children Veronica Dimon and Robert C. Frederick; her brothers Tommy Carroll and wife Carol Carroll; Rev. Bob Carroll and wife Pam Carroll, and Johnny Carroll and numerous loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son Nathan Dimon; her parents Tommie Carroll and Willie Mae Phillips-Carroll; and brothers Phillip Dean Carroll and Nick De Carroll.

Memorial Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. with Memorial Services beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Mission Funeral Home – South Side, 6204 South First Street;  Austin, Texas 78745.
