Obituary of Ofelia Mendez Estrada

Our Beloved Ofelia Mendez Estrada, age 88, of Austin, Texas, was called by our Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 12, 2019.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, David Estrada; children, David Estrada, Daniel Estrada, Samuel Estrada, and Lydia Gonzales; parents, Eloy and Elena Mendez; siblings, Albert Mendez, Margaret Mendez, and Olga Medina.

She is survived by her children, Willie Tijerina (Eva), Juan Tijerina, Robert Tijerina (Blasa), Rolando Tijerina (Mary), Louisa Rose Robinson (Russ), Josephine D’Etcheverry (Mike), Lucille Gutierrez (Felix), Dianna Hernandez (Juan), Debra Zertuché (Anthony), Noemi Hernandez, Patricia Luna (Robert), Rosanna Monreal, and son-in-law, Jimmy Gonzales; siblings, Oralia Ramirez, Carrie De La Cruz, Mary Helen Kampota, Hortencia Martinez, Lena Candelas, and Eloy Mendez, Jr.; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Adam Gonzales, Alan D’Etcheverry, Mitchell Tijerina, Robert Tijerina, Jr., Kristopher Rodriguez, and Anthony Zertuché, Jr.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Rene Salazar, Anita Gonzales, and Chelsea Gonzales.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, January 17, 2019 with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., Mission Funeral Home - South Side, 6204 S. First St., Austin, Texas. Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 18, 2019 at San Jose Catholic Church, 2435 Oak Crest Ave, Austin, Texas 78704. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
