Obituary of Estella Villalpando
Our beloved Estella Villalpando, age 81, was called to our Heavenly Father on Friday, May 29, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen Garza and Maria Alvarez Garza; her brother, Ruben Garza, and her nephew, Felix G. Perez.
Estella was born in San Marcos, Texas, on May 8, 1939 and graduated from San Marcos High School in 1959. She attended Nixon Clay Business College in Austin, and would go on to retire after 30 years of dedicated service working for the State of Texas at the Texas Education Agency and the Texas Railroad Commission. She was an active member of Santa Cruz Catholic Church in Buda where she served with the Eucharistic ministry, was a member of the church choir, a member of the Guadalupanas, and the Women's Rosary Group. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and her family will forever mourn their loss. Her dedication to her faith and her family will be greatly missed.
Estella is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Fernando "Sonny" Villalpando; her daughter, Veronica Sosa and her husband, John; her grandchildren, Jonna Amador and her husband, Anthony, Joshua Sosa, Jacob Sosa, and Julia Sosa; her great granddaughter, Jessie Sosa, and one great grandchild on the way; her sister, Linda Garza Perez and her husband, Feliciano, and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.
The family would like to acknowledge special appreciation for New Century Hospice and nurses, Emily and Jon for their unwavering dedication to Estella and to the entire family. In addition, the family would like to thank Dr. Sara Westgate and her nurse, Mary, at Austin NueroCare for their dedication and care of Estella. May God bless and keep each and every one of you and your families.
Lie in State will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Monday, June 1, 2020 at Mission Funeral Home - South Side, 6204 S. First St., Austin, Texas. Private visitation will be held from 4:00-9:00 p.m. with Recitation of Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., also at Mission Funeral Home - South Side.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Santa Cruz Catholic Church, 1100 Main St., Buda, Texas. We will originate at Santa Cruz Catholic Church at 9:00 a.m. There will be no morning visitation at the funeral home Tuesday morning. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S IH 35 Frontage Rd, Austin, Texas.
Due to the Coronavirus / COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,
Visitation, Mass, and Burial are limited in capacity.
Visitation is limited to 60 people, Mass is limited to 100, and Burial is Private.
Each person entering the funeral home, church and cemetery will be required to have a mask
and use it when unable to practice social distancing of 6 feet or more.

during this very difficult time.
