Obituary of Maria Lina Reyna

Our beloved Lina Reyna, age 84, was called by our Heavenly Father on Saturday, June 20, 2020.  She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Jose Reyna; sons, Jose Luis Reyna and Ruben Reyna, Sr.; her parents, Luis and Lucia Saldana; siblings, Juan Saldana, Pete Saldana, Paul Saldana, Hortencia Castillo, and Maria Banda.      

 

She is survived by her children: Rudy Reyna, Sr., “Lupe” Molina, Grace Castro, Alfredo “Freddie” Reyna, Sr., Lucy Reyna, Norma Reyna, John Reyna, Roseann Davidson, Michelle Duran (John), and Ruben Reyna, Jr.; siblings Jose Saldana, Anita Castillo (David) and Lucia Saldana, 33 grandchildren, 87 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. Maria is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.

 

Pallbearers are as follows: Daniel Castro, Matthew Reyna, Jose Luis Reyna, Linda Salazar, Melvin Alvarez, Christopher Reyna, Eric Reyna and Ruben Reyna, Jr.  Honorary Pallbearers will be all the Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

 

Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2020 with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel, located at 6204 S. First St., Austin, TX 78745.

 

Mass will begin at 11:30 a.m., on Monday, June 29, 2020, at San Jose Catholic Church, 2435 Oak Crest Ave., Austin, Texas. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S. IH 35 Feeder Rd.  San Jose requires pre-screening for COVID-19 prior to entry, gloves and masks are required, and everyone attending must be seated in the chapel prior to the funeral home procession arriving.  Attendees are not permitted to congregate on the steps or in the narthax/foyer.  The church suggests arriving 30 minutes prior to the start of Mass.

 

Due to the Coronavirus /  COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,

capacity levels are restricted at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.

Each person entering the funeral home, church, and cemetery will be required to wear a mask

and to practice social distancing of 6 feet or more.   If you are ill or are concerned about the virus,

it is recommended that you not attend services. 

The family is so grateful to everyone for their understanding, love, and support

during this very difficult time.
