Obituary of Ruben Perez

Please share a memory of Ruben to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our beloved, Ruben Perez, Sr., age 82, was called to our Heavenly Father on Saturday, July 11, 2020.

Ruben was born November 22nd 1937, raised in Elsa, Texas, son to Carmen and Gregoria Perez, and brother to Maria Perez Villapando, Petra Perez, Adan Perez, Guadalupe Perez, Reynaldo Perez, Roberto Perez, and Celia Perez. To many friends and family members Ruben was known as Papa Bear or Guero; and to his children and grandchildren he also had the proud names of Daddy and Popo.

Ruben is preceded in his death by his parents, Carmen and Gregoria Perez, his wife, Benita Castro Perez, his eldest son, Ruben C. Perez, his three sisters, Maria Perez Villapando, Petra Perez, and Celia Perez and his two brothers, Adan Perez, and Reynaldo Perez. They are united together in the hands of the Lord.

Ruben is survived by his brother and sister, Roberto Perez and Guadalupe Perez and his four children, Ida Marie Gonzales, Janie Perez Gonzalez, wife of Guadalupe Gonzalez, Esmeralda Perez, and youngest son, Rene C. Perez, husband to Lisa Perez. Ruben’s heart was not only filled with the love of his five children as he also took on the responsibility of raising his first granddaughter, Rebecca Azalea Perez.

Although Ruben stopped going to school after the 5th grade, it did not stop him from finding a way to support his family. In his early years, Ruben owned a truck driving business, Perez Trucking, that he used to support his family through all the tough times and also all the good times. Ruben lived every day of his life to the absolute fullest, always making sure all of his kids and grandkids were taken care of and most importantly prayed for.

Let us always remember the smile Ruben always had because no matter what, at the end of the day, his smile could light up even the darkest room.

Ruben was a beloved grandfather to eighteen grandchildren, a great grandfather to eight great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.
