Obituary of Frank Castruita, Jr.

Please share a memory of Frank to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of our family’s Patriarch, our Father, Frank Castruita, Jr.  He was called home to our Heavenly Father on July 30, 2020 at the age of 86.

He was born on April 1st, 1934 to Frank Sr. and Basilia Castruita in Austin, Texas.  He graduated in 1952 from Stephen F. Austin High School in Austin, TX.  On December 17, 1952 he married the love of his life Bernarda “Bennie” Gonzales whom he always referred to as “Doll”.  They were married for 62 years until her death.

His greatest accomplishment was working to provide for his family and taking them on many memorable family vacations.  He was first employed with Walter & Sign Company of Austin, TX as a professional sign painter.  He then worked for the University of Texas at Austin in the Paint and Sign Shop and retired after 25 years of dedicated service.

He enjoyed spending quality time with all his family such as playing bingo, going to casinos, cooking, playing the piano and watching his favorite team sports compete.  He was a true, loyal Texas Longhorn fan who also enjoyed cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros.  Frank will always and forever be remembered as a generous, kind, humble and loving man to all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Bernarda “Bennie” Castruita, his parents Frank Sr. and Basilia Castruita and his great-granddaughter Hilari Rios.

Frank is survived by his loving children, Sandra Carrillo and her husband, Carlos, Judy Tello and her husband, Richard, Nancy Moreno, Thomas Castruita, Cynthia Flores and her husband, Larry, John Albert Castruita and his wife, Catherine, and Frank Darren Castruita III and his wife, Sophea; his brothers, Richard Castruita, Roland Castruita and his wife, Dora, and Grabiel Castruita; his sister, Sylvia C.
