Obituary of Inez Soto Valencia

Our beloved Inez Soto Valencia age 87, was called home to our Heavenly Father, on Wednesday, February 17, 2021.

Inez will be missed dearly by many, not only as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt, but as a valued friend and confidant. Inez was an intercessory woman of prayer and always taught about the worth of love and forgiveness. The Valencia family were founding members of Sta. Julia Catholic Church, starting at Govalle school until the church was build on Lyons Rd. in 1957.  Inez donated endless hours throughout the years as a Guadalupana, the Breakfast Group and the yearly Jamaica festivals.  She had a green thumb where she donated hundreds of plants to the Jamaica every year.  She gave of her time, talent and treasures for over 70 years.  Inez worked for Tracor and ABM.  She was truly an angel on Earth.  A faithful servant who prayed the Divine Mercy with her son, Frank, at 3 p.m. each day.  Her loving kindness will truly be missed.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Pedro “Pete” Valencia; parents, Marcelo and Luz Martinez Soto; her brothers Juan Jose Soto, Gabriel Soto, and Francisco Soto; her sister, Hermina Soto Padilla, and by her grandson-in-law, Abraham Zambrano.

Inez is survived by her loving children, Frank Valencia (Juanita), Irma Linda Rivera (Jose), Valerie Holt (Timothy), and Joann Valencia Alderman (Earl); grandchildren, Maritza Zambrano, Sandra Puga (Mario), Christy Valencia, Eddie Rangel (Yvette), Ophelia Zuniga (David), Bernard Rivera (Stephanie), Lenny Rivera, Eric Rivera, Diana Rivera, Danny Zuniga (Christine), Regina Valencia, Efrain Rodriguez (Paula), and Evette Rodriguez; 23 loving great-grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; sisters-in-law, Mona Tormos and Victoria Valencia. as well as numerous other loving family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Rangel, Danny Zuniga, Cesar Zambrano, Sebastian Zambrano, Andrew Moreno and Marcus Rodriguez.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Efrain Rodriguez, Benard Rivera, Lennry Rivera, Eric Rivera, Landry Jimenez, Aaron Guzman, Mario Pugu, Leo Rivera, Brian Rivera, Lenney Rivera, Jr., Colin Nguyen, Mateo Nguyen and Liam Zuniga.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 24, 2021, with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel, 6204 South First St. Austin, TX 78745. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 25, 2021, at Sta. Julia Catholic Church, 3010 Lyons Rd, Austin, TX 78702. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.

The Valencia family would like to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Jewel and Victoria Valencia with Meals on Wheels; Koreana, Stacy and Brenda with Christopher House; and Hospice Austin, for all the care they have provided to Mrs. Inez.  In addition, her children for the unwavering dedication, care, and love provided to the end.

Due to the Coronavirus /  COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,

capacity levels are restricted at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.

Each person entering the funeral home, church, and cemetery will be required to wear a mask

and to practice social distancing of 6 feet or more.   If you are ill or are concerned about the virus,

it is recommended that you not attend services.

The family is so grateful to everyone for their understanding, love, and support

during this very difficult time.
