Obituary of Ysela "Donna" Herrera Casarez

Please share a memory of Ysela "Donna" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

The world's light shines dimmer lately as Donna Casarez took her final bow on February 26, 2021. Donna was preceded in death by her father, Salvador Herrera.

A Texan by choice, Donna hailed from New Mexico, but grew up in El Paso where she grew to love, obsess and naturally evolve into a graduate of her alma mater, The University of Texas - allowing her to become a community pharmacist in the Austin, TX area for over 35 years before retiring. Donna had a deep love - unmatched by those earthside - for her family. Her greatest love and partnership was her husband, Jesse Casarez who she met while she was attending college. Her husband, children, and family will continue to carry on her admirable legacy.

Donna is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Jesse Casarez; her children, Jessica Casarez and Steve Herrera; her granddaughter, Stephanie Herrera; her mother, Marie Herrera, and many other loving family members and friends.

Honored Pallbearers will be Trey Heatley, Joe Heatley, Stevie Casarez, Tony Luna, Andrew Cerda, and Daniel Ramirez.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with Recitation of Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Mission Funeral Home - South Side, 6204 S. First St., Austin, Texas.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 12, 2021 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 10000 David Moore Dr., Austin, Texas.  Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S. IH 35 Frontage Rd., Austin, Texas.
