Obituary of Marcus Z. Barron III

Please share a memory of Marcus to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our beloved Marcus Z. Barron, III, age 66, resident of Bastrop, Texas, was called Home to our Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 5, 2023.

Marcus was born on August 14th, 1956 to Rebecca and Marcus Barron Jr. in Austin, Texas. He grew up in East Austin where he enjoyed riding his bike with his friends, getting to know everyone in the neighborhood. He attended Brooke Elementary, Allan Middle School, and Johnston High School, where he played saxophone in the high-school band. In 1973, at the age of 17, Marcus joined the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California for basic training, before being transferred to Okinawa, Japan. After his time in the military, Marcus returned to Austin where he continued a career in public service and started a family of his own. Over the years, he served as a postal worker, driver for Capital Metro, Burger Center maintenance man, and airport shuttle driver. Marcus took pride in his work and enjoyed sharing stories of his experiences. He also knew all the back roads!

After a busy life in the city, Marcus moved to Bastrop, Texas with his wife Elizabeth, where they spent the last 10 years of his life together. In his retired life, Marcus enjoyed spending time outdoors, traveling with his wife, cooking for family and friends, and going for long drives just to find good food. Above all else, he enjoyed watching his family grow and trying to keep up with his four grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rebecca Lopez Barron and Marcus Barron, Jr.; his siblings, Carrie Romero and Robert Barron; his niece, Linda and brother-in-law, Jesse Rosales.

Marcus is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth M. Barron; his children, Scott Barron (Michelle), and Mark Barron IV (Carmen); his beloved grandchildren, Rebecca Erin, Trevor, Jayden, and Noah; his sister Annie Rosales; the mother of his children, Sandra Hernandez; numerous nieces and nephews, and many other loving family and friends.

Serving as Pallbearers are Scott, Mark, Mike, Shane, Al, and Kevin. Honorary Pallbearers are Jayden, Noah, and Trevor.
