Cousin Edna,
Thank you for being a wonderful cousin and one of my dearest friends. I’m going to miss our phone conversations as we would talk for hours and laugh until we cried. I’ll always remember how you answered the phone with “HELLO” in your endearing Texan accent. Thank you for all the cherished memories. Missing you!
With love,
Susan Aguilar

I worked with Edna at the Special Nutrition Programs. We became good friends and delivered Meals on Wheels together. After moving from Austin we keep up on Facebook. Edna was on of the nicest people I knew.

Edna was a cheerful, industrious, giving problem-solver and leader. She took a special interest in our work, and came through for our ministry in multiple ways, from organizing events to serving as president, until her health would no longer allow it. Our sorrow is palpable, and our hearts go out to her family and loved ones, but we know she is wearing a crown of glory in the next life.

As a fellow “Jesus Girl”, I’m blessed to have known Edna - a strong woman of faith and friend to many. She loved her family and grandchildren dearly. Edna - always smiling, giving, willing to help, fun loving, spunky, sense of humor. Thank you for sharing her story in pictures. “I Can Hardly Imagine” her joy in Heaven with Jesus now.

In the 6 or so years that I have known Edna I can honestly say that I have never met a more caring, loving and giving lady. I was always amazed to see how generous she was and to hear the stories Emma would share with me about her Mom. She loved her daughters and grandkids more than anything (not sure about her two son-in-laws though..."JEFFREY"!!...hahaha) and even though this is a tremendous loss for everyone Edna is a tremendous gain for heaven and the angels above!
Edna will definitely be missed, but never forgotten!

Edna was a pillar of strength to our family. I met her when she was a youth director at our church. She married my brother Joe. Edna was strong in character but knew kindness and she did that well. Always doing fun activities. When at her house- you knew no hunger. She always made sure you had plenty including dessert! You will truly be missed sister in law. We pray we will see you & the rest of our family and friends when God calls us home. Peace ~

Edna is a precious, beloved member of our Manchaca United Methodist women's Bible study classes since 2015! She has been faithful, passionate for God and her family, and always ready for friendship and fun!
She and Emma even initiated our nickname, "Jesus Girls," and we had so many wonderful times together - in class, in our annual event, "Joy in the Journey," and also the occasional extracurricular outing to see my son's band, "The Nightowls."
Edna, you were my breast cancer partner, as we both went through that "adventure" simultaneously in 2018 - thank you for your encouragement and support.
I pray that you are now well, whole, pain-free, and celebrating with your Lord in heaven! Love you, Sister!
~ Ellen Carpenter
P.S. Here are some photos of our class and escapades :)

Edna told us that her family meant the world to her. I know Edna loved her whole family very deeply. She was so proud of all of her grandchildren. She spoke of them often, letting us know what they were doing and what they had accomplished.
I was blessed to be part of her life- as Sisters in Christ. We were in many Bible Study classes together at the Manchaca United Methodist Church. Edna was a wise woman and we learned much from her in the class. We all prayed, laughed and helped each other grow and find joy and strength in our journey.
We had wonderful times going out to listen to Ellen Carpenter’s son play music with his band- The Night Owls. We would have fun singing and dancing together. Edna would then tell her daughters she was out with the Bible Study Ladies in the clubs- ha ha ha. Edna came up with the name “Jesus Girls” which we continue to use and which will always remind us of Edna
We will miss Edna but I know her spirit is with us always; still loving and guiding us. ❤️
A few quotes for the family
Little by little we let go of loss, but never of love.
What we once cherished and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes part of us.
Helen Keller
He will cover you with His feathers and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and protection. Psalm 91:4
May the loving memories of Edna give you strength in the days that lie ahead

My condolences to Edna's loving family. I knew her from babyhood. Edna's family lived on our block and my Tia Berta babysat her while her parents worked. We literally grew up together. We almost shared birthdays, hers July 13, mine July 11. Eventually, our paths diverged but enjoyed meeting up again at Burbank reunions. May she rest in God's loving arms.

When the M Bank was the great golden shaft downtown Joe worked up in the penthouse club. I think it was called the Highrise/Headliner's Club but am not sure. During holidays any party Ms. Lady Bird was at she'd have the chef bring down mondo plates of food for us working security. That's how I met Joe. When we started going to Faith UMC, I saw them and got to know Edna through the UMW group. She was a special lady, and I was glad to know her for many years. Through her I got to know her daughter's and nieces too. She has a great family. There are so many stories with her in them and I hope to read some of them.

My Dearest Aunt Edna.. May you rejoice in eternal paradise in the presence of Our Lord Jesus.. You are one class act.. You and Uncle Joe were roll models to me and blessed me and my siblings with your love and generosity. You were a positive part of my upbringing and I thus learned what a loving family should be.. Your kindness and hospitality were truly a sanctuary to me as a child.. I have only fond and super happy memories that I will always cherish. I always felt safe and loved anytime that I was with you. Love You Always- Your Nephew David Esparza

I grew up as a kid knowing Edna as a 2nd mother . Her and Joe were a big influence in my life as a child. They were always a happy part of my childhood. Spending holidays at their home with all the dogs and Joe on his lil handheld TV watching football and Edna cooking up a storm in the lil kitchen . Great memories in their house truly lost one of the good people.
